This weekend has been a photo-extravaganza for Norah, Lauri, and I. But mostly Norah. Yesterday we went to the studio of Robert Bruce in Royal Oak, MI. Robert was the photographer for both my wedding, and my Sister;s wedding. I'm not sure when we'll be getting copies of what he shot, but Lauri and I are both VERY excited about this. Robert is both a very accomplished photographer, and more importantly a really great person. It was a pretty eventful photo shoot too, now we know what to expect if Norah is left without a diaper for extended periods of time. We now know what Anne Geddes must go through to get her famous shots, and let me tell you , it's not glamorous.
While Lauri was out this morning to a couple of stores, Norah and I had a mini photo shoot. Mostly it was me brushing up on some stuff, playing with my camera. But here are a few shots from that. Please note that these shots couldn't hold a candle to what Robert did yesterday.
If you'd like to see a few examples of what we did yesterday, head over to my Dad's Blog as he was shooting over Robert's shoulder during the session. On top of everything else, Robert is a fantastic teacher too.
Thanks again Robert!

She looks pretty cozy, all bundled up as she sleeps. What a good little girl. Love, Grandma Shields
Nice shots. I'm sure Robert's pics will be awesome but he has the perfect world with his studio lighting. You should never compare studio lights to anything else. It has a quality all its own. I like these shots but I might be partial since she is my granddaughter. Glad to see you are using that D200. Keep practicing since you have a couple great targets with Lauri and Norah.
PS: You will need to start using my studio for pictures of Norah. Remember practice makes perfect.
She's such an angel!
I love you Norah!
Aunt Jessica :)
Robert's pictures are terrific, but they can't replace yours John because you are Norah's Daddy! :)
All of the pictures of our niece continue to bring smiles - thanks for sharing them!
Love,
Aunt Amanda
Those are soo cute John. I love the ones with the squiggle blanket. Keep them coming. Deb v
John:
I think you are either too critical of yourself or don't give yourself enough credit. I think your pictures of Norah are at least as good if not better than Robert's. Just keep on taking them because I can never get enough of my beautiful granddaughter.
Your admiring Mother-in-law.
